Prospective Scholars

The Mary John Goree Las Animas County Scholarship Foundation grants scholarships to enable residents of Las Animas County, Colorado to complete an undergraduate education in the field of their choice at any accredited four-year college or university in the United States, other than Princeton University, for which our sister scholarship, the Mary John Goree Scholarship at Princeton University, is available.  The Las Animas Goree scholarship program continues and builds upon the vision of William M. John, embodied in the Mary John Goree Scholarship at Princeton University, of a scholarship that rewards and encourages academic excellence and expands the range of college choices considered by Las Animas County students.

As discussed more fully under Scholarship Awards, all recipients of the Las Animas Goree Scholarship receive a minimum award that equals or exceeds full tuition and fees with the possibility of an additional award for room, board, travel and other expenses based upon financial need.  Candidates for the Las Animas Goree Scholarship go through a rigorous application and interview process. Our experience tells us that we can expect this year’s selection process to be an intense competition among students with distinguished academic records.
